Conveyance
Elaborate arrangements have been made by Kerala
State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC)
this year pilgrim season to ensure enough and effective
sabarimala commutation. A fully equipped bus station
including garage facility has started functioning
at Pampa round the clock. Buses will be operated from
all bus stations to Pampa and Erumeli. One temporary
bus station at Nilackal is functioning and chain services
to Pampa from Nilackal are now operating. Mobile workshop
facilities from Chalakkayam, Pampa, Nilackal, Plappally,
Perunad is introduced this year.
Bus
services form railway stations viz Chengannoor, Kottayam,
Ernakulam etc have started to facilitate pilgrims
availing railway transportation.
Special
Service Centres of KSRTC have started functioning
this year are at Trivandrum Central, Kottarakkara,
Chengannoor, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Erumeli, Kumili,
and Pathanamthitta.
The
timing of bus from KSRTC is not specifically scheduled
since bus will always available as and when required.
That is, one bus will always be there at the bus station
and will starts the trip just after filling the seating
capacity. Advance seat reservation facility is also
available including group reservation prior to 10
days. The KSRTC will provide bus to Pampa from any
place with in 10 kms from special service centre on
request of a pilgrim group-containing minimum 40 nos.
after making advance reservation. .
No
hike in bus charges was introduced this year for special
services to Pampa.
The
Pathanamthitta district administration would start
pre-paid taxi service to Pampa from Thiruvalla Railway
Station during the season and the service would be
made available round-the-clock from November 15. The
District Tourism Promosion Council would oparate an
information center at the Thiruvalla railway Station-the
nearest railway station to pampa-, where pilgrims
could book the pre-paid service.
The Travancore Devaswom Board will operate bus service
from Thiruvananthapuram to Pampa and back for pilgrims
during this season. The fare is Rs.200/- and tickets
can be reserved (reservation fee is Rs.5/-) at the
bus booking office in the head office of the Board
at Nanthancode, Thiruvananthapuram. The bus service
will leave the Pazhavangadi Temple area at 9 p.m.
