Pathanamthitta district is generally considered as industrially backward. The present industrial status of the district is as below.

There are three Mini Industrial Estates and 10 sheds at Adoor, Panthalam and Mallappally. Industrial development plot at Kunnamthanam and Mallappally is being set. The Government had declared 8.5 Hectares of area as development plot in Kunnamthanam village. District Industries Centre will distribute the land to needy enterpreneurs on request. The development works at development plot will be completed soon. Moreover 14.48 Hectares of land has been transferred to KINFRA and five acres of land has been transferred to SIDCO for industrial parks.

Green channel committee has been setup to help entrepreneurs get all sorts of licences, clearances, electricity, water connection etc., without delay. This facility is at the District Industries Centre, Kozhencherry.

District Khadi and Village Industries office is functioning at Elanthoor. This is a rural area blessed with the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi, who visited here in January 1937 for the propogation of the principles of Khadi.
